Review
This is book two in The Legacy series. Overall the series has a great new take on vampires. I love new and creative vampire stories and this is the first one I’ve ever read with vampires and aliens. Book one was good enough that I bought book two as soon as it was available.
The Legacy: Destiny is book two, and it is fantastic. This story is much darker than the first book in the series and is more paranormal/urban fantasy. I felt there was a lot of growth in this author’s writing style. It was obvious she was more comfortable delving in the darkest reaches of her imagination.
I started out worried that this book was going to spend too much time with LX under military control, but that is not where most of the story takes place. I don’t want to give away too much, but I will say the military is the least of LX’s troubles in this book.
This book is a must read for those who love a darker paranormal tale. I highly recommend reading book one first or you could have trouble following what is going on.

Synopsis
LX (or Alex for us Earthlings) is a Navigator. From the moment of his birth until he became of age, he prepared for his calling. On a routine exploration mission that shouldn't have taken more than a few months, an incident propels his spaceship light-years away from his destination, leaving him stranded on the third planet from a star called Sol.
The laws of survival are strict; he must not fraternize with the natives. However, an encounter with Mellie changes everything. She has speed and strength unknown to Earthlings yet strangely similar to his own species. This new discovery compels him to learn more about her and those who call themselves vampires. For her, he will break rules, his people's rules, until there is no turning back.
Meanwhile, mysterious storms are devastating cities. When they learn of their origin and humans fail to see the threat, he, and his new friends, might be their only chance, but to save them and the one he loves, he may have to break his primary Oath: the vow never to take a life.
